During this month we had the Draw Your Blokoto of this year, and everyone brought the best ideas to the table. We have seen all of them! And now, we are going to check each of your ideas, featuring many comments from our team about each suggestion.
[EVENT] Interactive Sportballs
Comments from Team about Interactive Sportballs
@INKnight: I thought it such an interesting idea. I like the concept of having an interactive ball in-game which you can use as an item to create puzzles or competitions between players.
@Jamesiin: I think really persistent the fact of Blokoto featuring assets along physics mechanics. In my opinion, instead of having a closed mechanic, like an ordinary soccer ball, i believe that it would be more interesting if we could divide it through many mechanics and submechanics, also already preparing it for the game when it finally afford to have a future programming feature, whether it be Conduits or Lua. But only the time (and Ink) can say that.
@ODelicioTron3000: It’s always interesting on having distinct map genres that feature something new, and it can actually lead to create one of them. The way that people likes soccer (not my case), it may surely be the initial sparkle for hosting the first World Cup in Blokoto? Who knows.
@Novum: That’s an interesting idea, not only by the possibilities that it proportionates, but also by opening the doors for the inclusion of another objects and mechanics that interact directly with the game physics. Pretty awesome.
@EJota: Sounds like a great concept, would be kinda niche and only present on certain types of games, but it doesn’t make it a bad suggestion. I would enjoy having these around, though it makes me wonder about the way that the player can interact with the ball. Simply walking into it and having it being pushed around could be frustrating in some sense, you wouldn’t have enough control over the ball, but in either way it’s not a bad suggestion, would be great to see it in a more fleshed out state.
@Zoni: Recreate World Cup 2026 in Blokoto, colorized! Basically a playable version of Kogama’s Hamster ball - why not?
[EVENT] Activity Status Card
Comments from Team about Activity Status Card
@Inknight: Jamesiin always gets it right on his concepts.
@Jamesiin: (Let’s pretend that it wasn’t entirely made by myself)
Wow! This is such an useful concept for the social part of Blokoto. Imagine how it’s like to have the knowledge about what are your friends playing or building, right? James is really visionary!
@ODELiCiO: Nice feature to pry our friends while they are playing something… This way, we are really about to unveil the secret addiction of a friend to a certain game, who is always lying about it and running from us when asked for LOL.
@NovumSB: I believe that it’s a good way to “encourage” interaction between friends. It has my approval.
@EJota: Great, pretty straight forward idea, sounds good to me.
@theonio: I really loved this suggestion a lot, this definitely will allow more interactivity between friends!
@Zoni: Self-explanatory and boosts accessibility among users. Would have to go with a toggleable hide option in case you don’t want friends following you.
[EVENT]🌟 UPDATE CONCEPT: "Brickstars" - #6 by IzukuNatsuki
Comments from Team about Brickstars
@Inknight: Pets were one of the most requested features in the very beginning of the development. I never was a fan of this idea, because pets are such a very cosmetic feature and would affect the experience in some maps. But, who knows…
@Jamesiin: Ahh… pets… i remember the very first time that the community had a discussion about it in 2022 at the Discord server about their addition to the game. It almost tipped over a civil war!
Jokes aside, LOL. Talking serious now, i’m generally not so favorable about their existence the way it has been proposed. The actual problem that i see on pets at a global level in Blokoto is the fact that they might disturb both the owner player and other players around, depending on the map. For example: obstruct the player view during a shooting game. Beyond that, depending on what each Blokoto world proposes to be, featuring a flying creature can really break the immersion of this experience.
Similar to what i said on the Sportballs concept, made by Sonikku, i prefer the idea of getting the pets concept and then separate it in different submechanics focused on the programming part of games from Blokoto. In that regard, if a player wanted to put pets in your game, then he could code the system in your own way, in a more customized form.
@ODELiCiO: Being really fair, i’ve never been friendly nor get excited with something about this pets niche in games. It seems to me just a silly feature for cosmetics, but for whoever likes it, it may be like a chance to have a puppy next to you following along any map.
But if we are really going to have this, it must be totally optional and according to the criteria from the owner of each map, to not let a sinister shooting game with the same vibe of a picnic at the park with your children during the afternoon.
@NovumSB: Puffle!!!
@EJota: I have mixed feelings about this concept, even though it takes me back to what puffles represented in Club Penguin, it wouldn’t really work in the same way on Blokoto. The embedded art into the suggestion is awesome, but I’m not a huge fan of this concept. I’d much rather wait to see how the art style/player customization of Blokoto expands in the future to then reevaluate the possibility of an idea like this.
Even though there’s not anything even close to a “competitive PvP community” in Blokoto at the moment, Brickstars would be somewhat problematic in PvP, having a moving, default player head following you could make things a bit sketchy and could lead to competitive disadvantages, it wouldn’t be the de facto thing that decides on who wins and who loses on a PvP match, but it is something that messes up with the schematics of things a little bit. It’s not that serious of a problem, since map creators could toggle out of Brickstars on their projects, but these points are things to be aware of.
@Zoni: Other than the obvious AI generated description, I’m quite mixed with this suggestion. I could be biased, since I’m not one for overloading my character with cosmetics, but I can see uses in roleplay games. Other genres though… it would have to be a toggleable option by the game creator to allow the use of this. Stat feature as well. And doesn’t this resemble the Minecraft allay?
[EVENT] Brittle behavior for blocks
Comments from Team about Brittle behavior for blocks
@Inknight: Destructible blocks are pretty nice and i really want to bring them to the game.
@Jamesiin: Some interesting stuff can be made from this destructible blocks mechanic in games. There is a game type that i would like to bring for Blokoto, if this mechanic is going to work the way as i’m thinking about.
@ODELiCiO: To tell the truth, i was completely clueless when suggesting it, nevertheless, it is such a mechanic which has countless possibilities at many genres of games, and it could actually make we feel that the world made of polygons around us has “life” somehow.
@EJota: Solid suggestion, not much else to add
@theonio: A mechanic with so much potential to me for using it! I already can even think about what kinds of situations they may be used at the mini-games made by players!
@Zoni: Yeah, why not have a customisable Crumble block from Kogama? I would also suggest a game settings feature to set how detailed crumbled blocks are. 32x, 16x, 8x, so on.
[EVENT] UGC Accessories - #3 by Dylinn
Comments from Team about UGC Accessories
@Inknight: I think that cosmetics made by the community are a fantastic idea, because they bring an extraordinary layer of customization for players. It is definitely something we are looking for in the future.
@Jamesiin: Accessories made by the own users are an idea that i really would like to see happening in practice, since Blokoto always have been a game faced towards its community. This way, it’s cool the way of creating such a relation which the same players that consume our game, are also the same that participate on its growing somehow.
@ODELiCiO: The more freedom and customization, the better is the game in my opinion. I’ve always been a fan of environments where the user practically has freedom to innovate, whathever it may be the niche where he is planning to be a creator.
@EJota: I believe that this was one of the topics that were often discussed in the Discord server, compared to the previous suggestions of Brickstars/Puffles, it wouldn’t disrupt much on the artstyle of the game, sounds cool to me
@theonio: It is definitely my favorite suggestion, also by the fact it can help to give more freedom to your avatar to make it more fashion, also encouraging the community to interact with each other.
@Zoni: We’re going one-to-one with Roblox, huh? I’m a bit mixed with this too, since if left unregulated, it can quickly go south. I would be fine with just the team designing cosmetic accessories, and having UGC enabled could bring down the value of future event-only accessories.
[EVENT] Connected Maps System
Comments from Team about Connected Maps System
@Inknight: It will be really able to do some pretty cool stuff with that, mostly lobbies and RPG maps. It’s a really good idea.
@Jamesiin: Simply sensational. We can have many interesting ideas along this feature on the game, especially if it would be customizable.
@ODELiCiO: It’s such a nice utility for connecting certain parts of a single map. I feel it could be extremely useful, mostly for creators of REALLY heavy maps, and this way splitting lobbies and other resources at separate servers, avoiding the overload of those on just a single environment, and it will surely allow people to get more excited and less limited to imagine more complex ideas.
@EJota: Sounds awesome, great concept.
@Zoni: No-brainer. Opens up the doors for various game genres while avoiding all the lag. No longer do you have to fly thousands of blocks just to create a new area!
[EVENT] Daily Rewards System
Comments from Team about Daily Rewards System
@Inknight: It’s pretty cool having a rewards system for the game, but i believe that daily rewards systems for long time periods can make the game look like way too laborious. I think that we can afford to have a month or some seasonal weeks along it, it would be really interesting.
@Jamesiin: A daily reward system is interesting, it is a way of building the player loyalty on the platform. However, it’s important to make it clear that the rewards part from this concept is such a sensible thing, because any quantity of item X put on that can possibly break an entire ecosystem of Blokoto. For example: a Blokoins farm.
@ODELiCiO: If there is something that people likes a lot, this is called free items. Observing that the other people’s behavior is always subject to get “addicted” on being awarded/win whatever it may be, it would be one more reason to justify the player entry on a map everyday, even it’s just because of the prizes itself.
@EJota: Another great concept, encourages player activity and allows users to gather Blokoins without outright buying them. I’m a pretty big fan of this concept.
@Zoni: Being the creator of this suggestion, I’ll add that I can see this increasing player loyalty quite a long shot. The idea is to keep players in the game while simultaneously helping new players to create their own experiences, since you don’t have a lot to start with. Asset rewards were used in the concept since there just isn’t a lot to work with at the moment. In case of Blokoin farming, they could be moved further down the week.
[EVENT] Selectable characters and avatar stats
Comments from Team about Selectable characters and avatar stats
@Inknight: It is almost essential to have a system where the map creators can do it, if they want to make an assymetrical game (like Among Us or Dead by Daylight, where one of the players is stronger than the rest).
@ODELiCiO: It’s a great ease when we want to filter the kind of playable character for each map, since when actually playing a game that already has its purpose defined, probably it would not be interesting for the creator in mixing up avatars of different types on there, so we are not going to see dark avatars along the colorful ones.
Powers are really nice to have and use for distinct types of purposes, and this way the super heros maps are born for example, where each one of them have your specific advantage.
@EJota: Definitely a solid suggestion, would make games more immersive, and could also allow certain types of classes on PvP types of games. Would be cool to set special spawnpoints to each selectable character too.
@Zoni: Classes from Kogama. No-brainer as well. Would love to see individual Skills & Perks alongside it. And don’t forget the option to use your own avatar!
[EVENT] Weather events and visual effects
Comments from Team about Weather events and visual effects
@Inknight: I really want to see snow and rain in the game!
@ODELiCiO: The maps will surely be more challenging and vivid with some of these weather events. I only know that a quiet game where nothing happens is not fun!
@EJota: These would be great, they definitely feel like a core mechanic for any storytelling game, I’d be a big fan of it, though it does raise a few technical questions to the developers, would it be possible to have two different weather effects on separate parts of the game? what about merging the weather? should we worry about performance? overall, pretty good idea.
@Zoni: Another no-brainer. I’m a bit worried for overall performance however, since I could see sand and air storms increasing GPU usage.
[EVENT] Triggers, sounds and other environmental instances
Comments from Team about Triggers, sounds and other environmental instances
@Inknight: This is a fundamental piece of game and we are going to focus on adding it in the following months. This suggestion is really polished and left more clear the way we can do it.
@ODELiCiO: The sensation of feeling that the environment really exudes life when hearing sounds is really awesome. Surely the immersion of maps will be way more deeper when featuring any kind of sound that the player can actually listen to, and soon not feeling so alone on this world anymore.
@Zoni: Now you did not have to go all-out for the concept art! Another no-brainer suggestion - sound design is vital for any game!
[Item Concept] Build Hammer!
Comments from Team about Build Hammer!
@Inknight: It’s a really powerful tool, some of those ideas can possibly appear even on the building mode.
@ODELiCiO: For maps of the sandbox style, where the main objective is to build something cool, it can be really well used by players, and this way we can prove who is better on building using these resources.
@Zoni: Cube Gun on steroids! This could really open the door for so many game genres. However, a bit skeptical with the model option, as some creations are too beefy to place down, which means it’d have to be toggled by the game creator on what models are allowed or not. Build limit could bode well too.
I’m very thankful for everyone who participated! All of these suggestions will definitely help us to shape the next steps of the game. There are so many cool ideas to have on the platform, and i am really excited for when I’ll be actually able to deploy each one of those.
