Well, it’s been quite a while since I thought about this, and I’m here again to reinforce this debate on which way would be better for the game overall. I think no one here has ever touched on this topic, so it’s up to me to do it myself, again.
Here’s the thing: one thing that caught my attention in the older builds of Blokoto (and now in the current Alpha 2.0) is the size relation between the blocks of the world (not the models) and the size of the player, which is exactly the same scheme as KoGaMa:
-
Block: 4 mini-blocks (or grids, as you might call them) in height.
-
Player: 2 mini-blocks in height.
In other words, the height of the players is half the height of a normal block on the map.
And what’s the problem with that? None, necessarily, because it’s more a matter of taste and what you think fits better. That being said, I’ll give my opinion: since KoGaMa, I never liked this game scale so much (although I got used to it because “it was the way”), because I found it kind of weird — the player looked like a dwarf compared to the rest of the world. Hahaha
For me, a scale that would be better for the game could be one of two examples I’ll give:
-
1/1 Scale: Both the world block and the player have the same height.
-
1/2 Scale: The player’s height is double that of a block (like in Minecraft, for example).
Well, these are just examples; maybe there are other good ones out there too.
Anyway, since Ink is getting back to working on the player mode system in the game, I think this is the right time to decide this.
That’s it, thanks for reading lol
