Portals were an amazing addition and though still a bit glitchy they were executed in a brilliant way. But i’ve thought of a few ways to improve them even further by adding more settings, which includes:
Visuals: Color and transpency settings, which lets you pick any color or change the portal’s transparency (even make it invisible), aswell as changing the color of the flash that appears for a brief moment on your screen during teleportation (you can also completely hide the flash).
Sound: Sound that plays during teleportation, or when in close proximity to the portal.
Delay: The ammount of time it takes for the portal to take you to the opposite side.
Gravity: How much the portal attracts nearby players. Includes Intensity and Radius (Disabled by default), if Intensity is negative it will repel the player instead.
Light: Light emmited by the portal. Includes color, Intensity and Radius, similar to ‘‘Gravity’’
Destination: Includes five different settings:
- Standard: Teleports you normally, that means it works like a normal portal and teleports you to the opposite side (Default setting)
- Spawn: Teleports you back to spawn
- Void: Kills you instantly (When paired with Gravity it would make a functional blackhole)
- Random: Teleports you to a random portal anywhere in the game. If there is only one other portal, it will teleport you like normal
- Wormhole: Leads you to a completely random spot in the game, as long as there is a surface for the player to stand on.
Im aware this would all be difficult to code so not all might make it to the game, but i still felt like dropping all my ideas as they might be used in the future (hopefully). Open for feedback.
