Hey! I know everyone is excited for the next update to come, I am just as much as you! But, some changes on my irl schedule made updating the game a much harder task, and it is delaying some of the updates we have planned to do sooner.
The Alpha 1.3.0 is a big update that we are aiming to release soon, and it is a pretty big one under the hood. Here are some things to expect:
Improved movement reliability
Our game relied on server-side movement ever since the second pre-alpha, and this was fine until we had to add trampolines to the game, then rocket jumping, then vehi-- no, not yet!
Basically, everything related to physics was a pain to develop, due to the complexity of having a server as the authority of everything.
From Alpha 1.3.0 and forward, we will be moving to an easier multiplayer system. This does comes with some caveats, but their are necessary in order to make the game as smooth as possible for the player.
The Uzi and some weapons changes
We are reworking the weapons under the hood and the Uzi is a test of this. We are going to change the balance of the other weapons as well, and make their stability better.
Improved inventory and game menu interface
We are also changing how the game menu works and looks in order to make things easier to notice. Right now, there is a “Window” button for window settings that almost no one knows due to it poor “buttonjitsu” (it does not look like a button at all)
The inventory is also being improved and merged with the current elements creation menu.
The forum is now the news on the website blog
We will be dropping our blog system in order to make the forum our ultimate source of news and discussion about them. We will be showing the https://community.blokoto.com posts on the website and give users a button to write to posts as a comments and opinions system.
A more faithful compatibility mode
We do not support the compatibility mode officially, and we don’t guarantee it will work, but we are fixing some issues that made it unusable, since Godot (our engine) got a lot better with their rendering backend.
Stability
We are also fixing a lot of pesky bugs scattered around the game!
What will not be included?
We were testing Lua scripting systems and some other behavior features to add to Alpha 1.3.0, but they are still to unstable for us to ship, so we are postponing them to a next update. In the meanwhile, you can give your feedback on the forum about how you would like behaviors and mechanics in the game to work.
We are also not adding swords and other weapons, since they also need a lot of testing in order to be more reliable and stable.
I hope you enjoy the next phase of the game! See you soon :)
