Hello Blokoto players! We are excited to roll out a massive update that touches almost every part of the game. This one took quite a while to develop, hopefully it would have been worth the wait. Here are the highlights of what’s new ![]()
The Movement Rework
We have completely overhauled the character controller to make exploring and playing games feel responsive and satisfying.
- New Physics & Feel: We’ve added nice visuals and effects to the movement. You’ll notice landing stretches and improved camera smoothing.
- Wall Jumping is better than ever: We’ve reimplemented wall jumping with more responsive physics.
- Gamepad Support (experimental): Initial gamepad support has been added!
The “Elements” System & Building Upgrade
For the creators, we have streamlined the entire building experience. The old object system has been entirely rewritten to make the groundwork for Conduits and other game elements in the next updates.
- Block Editor Remake: The interface for creating and editing blocks has been completely redesigned.
- Texture & Palette Overhaul: The texture inventory has been redesigned, and the palette inventory is cleaner and easier to navigate.
- Better Gizmos: We’ve added colored gizmos and better visual cues (like outlines) when editing models, making it easier to see what you are doing.
Multiplayer Editing
We’ve laid the groundwork for better multiplayer editing, including roles, permissions, and “ghost” actors.
Combat & Gameplay
Combat feels punchier and more reliable thanks to significant networking improvements.
- Hitmarkers & Damage Numbers: You now get clear visual feedback when you land a shot.
- Weapon Fixes: We’ve fixed issues with ammo desync, fire rates, and remote players not appearing to hold weapons.
- Explosions: Visuals have been improved, and fire/poison status effects have updated audio and visuals.
- Health Bars: A brand new health bar design, including clearer visuals for damage ticks.
UI & Interface Redesign
The game looks cleaner than ever with a fresh coat of paint on the user interface.
- New HUD: A completely new game interface.
- Loading & Win Screens: We’ve added a new loading screen and a detailed Win Screen that now displays your “Win Time.”
- Player Identities: New player labels, colored outlines, and better avatar rendering in the menus.
- Settings: Audio settings have been reimplemented and moved to a dedicated menu.
New Avatar Editor Background
We have redesign the visuals of the avatar editor background to make it feels more inline with the current art-direction of the game. We also have plans to improve the workflow of it in the near future.
Under the Hood
While you might not see these changes, you’ll definitely feel them.
- Godot 4.6 Upgrade: We’ve updated the engine to the latest version for better performance.
- Networking: Improvements to player synchronization (interpolation), preventing remote players from looking “jittery.”
- Commands: Added tp (teleport) and kick commands for better server management.
